Summer Cultivation

Ghodabadi village is surrounded by two small Rivers and has cultivated lands. Indian civilization has a great connection with river water and cultivated land. Because of their contribution, our race has begun to increase and multiplied rapidly. But, this village has no connection between cultivation land and river water. Due to the depth of the river, the water couldn’t be utilized in their fields. Village people were cultivating their land once a year by depending upon the monsoon. During summer they used to stay at home without any work to do. The one-time cultivation was not enough for the people to run their families. Their income was low. For this reason, the village people mobilized to the Panchayat Office, but the officers used to ignore their demand.

When Ghodabadi village people were going through different kinds of Issues, MGS became the Facilitation agent for the entire community. Village people joined their hands with MGS and participated in different activities. Village people became aware of their community issues and identified issues to tackle. Insufficient water in the farming field was one of them. People conducted meetings, practiced role play, prepared request letters, collected contributions, and identified representatives mobilized to the Lift Irrigation Office, Rayagada. After two follow-ups the agency approved the irrigation project. The work has implemented and completed 100%.
One powerhouse has built near the river and with the help of an electric motor, water flows through the pipes.

Now, village people are feeling much gratitude towards the activity of MGS. This year for the first time they have cultivated Rabi crops (summer crops) in their fields. 50% of household people have benefited from the project. They are supplying water to their farm field whenever they need it. For the smooth running of the Irrigation project, they have formed Committee with 33 members. To look after the project they have appointed President, Secretary, and treasurer. They are collecting contributions and opened Saving Bank Account in the name of the “Ghodanadi Irrigation Committee” for the sustainability of the project. By cultivating twice in a year their income has increased.
